Back by Popular demand! Elvis is is a fun festival with great entertainment
Day 1 – Wednesday 4th January ‘23 Parkes (D)
Put on your Blue Suede Shoes and join us on our Parkes Elvis Festival
Tour. Today we travel to Jerilderie, known in history as the only place
in New South Wales to be visited by the Ned Kelly gang, where we stop for morning
tea. We then travel on to Narrandera for our lunch. The name "Narrandera" is
said to be derived from the Wiradjuri word "Narrungdera" which means "place
of lizard or goanna". We continue on to Forbes, rich in gold-mining history
and the site of the biggest gold robbery in Australia's history. Although we
can’t promise gold we can promise a nice place to stop for afternoon tea. We take
a look around this historic town before continuing our travels to Parkes. On arrival
at Parkes we check into our "Heartbreak Hotel” for a delightful dinner. North Parkes Motel will be our home
for the next five nights.
Day 2 – Thursday 5th Parkes
Elvis Festival (B)
We enjoy breakfast before heading in to Elvis Central to take in all the
sights and sounds this Festival has to offer. The day is free to explore and
enjoy. Don’t forget to travel to the Station to meet the Elvis Train as it
arrives from Sydney – it’s certainly a sight to behold with its Elvis entertainment
and packed full of devoted Elvis fans! In Elvis Central there are festival
markets, exhibits and competition displays. Buskers around town provide great
entertainment and certainly add to the atmosphere of this amazing festival. There
are free films and documentaries on the Elvis Festival. The Fully
Air-Conditioned Clubs in town all feature vibrant Elvis entertainment which
begins in the afternoon and continues on until closing. The Cooke Park Main Stage features non-stop
Elvis Entertainment. There is something for everyone! Head to where all the
action is happening and enjoy further entertainment at the Clubs, or maybe
enjoy "Cinema Under the Stars” or the 2023 theme film shown at the main stage.
Note: There is a bus which travels to and from the
motel every hour so there is always an opportunity to head back to the motel,
or head into Elvis Central, at your own convenience.
Day 3 – Friday 6th Parkes Elvis Festival (B)
After Breakfast we head into Elvis Central once again featuring markets,
non-stop entertainment on the main stage, buskers and Club Entertainment. Maybe
take a look at the Parkes Elvis Festival Photography Competition Exhibition
(gold coin entry) at the Parkes Library. The library also features the 2023
theme film for those who may have missed the evening film last night. There is
so much to see and do, but for those that need to unwind or relax there is a
bus every hour to and from the motel so you may choose to head to the motel for
a swim and refresh before heading back to Elvis Central. As well as the
entertainment on the main stage there is always something going on at the other
venues in town with Pubs and Clubs providing an array of Elvis Entertainment. Grab
dinner in Elvis Central before taking in evening entertainment, take a dip in
the pool, or relax in your room.
Day 4 – Saturday
7th Parkes Elvis Festival (B)
Good morning! Another exciting day in Elvis Central. The major highlight
today is the Elvis Street Parade. A wonderful parade packed full of Elvis
themed floats, Elvis and Priscilla look-a-likes, Vintage and Classis Cars,
Motor Bikes, Marching Bands, and much more. Enjoy free concerts at Cook Park
Main Stage, Market Stalls, Elvis Central Store, Cars of the Era Show and Elvis
Memorabilia. In the afternoon be thoroughly entertained by the Musical Elvis
Tribute Show – the biggest Elvis Concert of the Festival. The day is only
limited by your imagination… it’s non-stop fun! The evening is yours to enjoy
as you wish. I’m sure you will sleep well with Elvis’s top hits playing in your
head.
Day 5 – Sunday
8th Parkes Elvis Festival
(B,D)
Time for breakfast. For those that wish there may be an opportunity to attend
the Elvis Gospel Church Service. This event has become a much-loved feature of
the festival program and the Interdenominational service on Sunday morning pays
tribute to Elvis’ first love – Gospel music. Enjoy the remaining day of the
Festival before heading back to the motel for dinner, and a good sleep.
Day 6 – Monday
9th Home (B)
After breakfast we leave the motel. We travel to Forbes then on to West
Wyalong for morning tea. We continue our journey home stopping enroute for lunch after
a memorable Parkes Elvis Festival Tour.
