DAY 1 – Wednesday
2nd November ‘22 HEPBURN SPRINGS (D)
Welcome aboard for an
exciting tour of Hepburn Springs. Today
we travel to Elmore for morning tea.
Then it’s on to Castlemaine where we
arrive at the Castlemaine Railway Station to board a steam train to Maldon. On arrival in Maldon we stop
for lunch in town (own expense). Maldon
has been designated "Australia’s first notable town” and is notable for its 19th-century
appearance, maintained since the gold-rush days. Then we travel to Hepburn Springs for free time in the
shops. Tonight, we settle in to the Peppers
Mineral Springs for our dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2 – Thursday
3rd HIGH TEA (B,L)
After a hearty breakfast we travel to Creswick see the Creswick Woollen Mill. The store features a showcase describing the company’s history, dating
from 1947, and their famed heritage products, designed at their Mill in
Creswick, Western Victoria. Australia’s historical coloured woollen spinning
mills’ store will showcase the quality of Creswick’s products, ranging from
homewares to apparel to accessories. Included in the showcase is an educational
space providing local and international tourists an insight into the history of
Australian natural fibres such as merino and alpaca. In addition, Creswick
Woollen Mills' 72-year adventure is documented, as well as the remarkable
history of its founder Paul Ryzowy.
We depart and continue our travel to Ballarat
where we view the Ex-Prisoners War
Memorial. Then it’s time to indulge your tastebuds with a sumptuous High Tea at Craigs Royal Hotel. In the grandeur of the beautifully restored Grand
Dining Room, sip a tea, coffee or a glass of sparkling wine accompanied by the
classic finger sandwiches, savouries, scones and the most luscious petit fours,
all made in-house. Once our appetite’s have been satisfied, we depart the hotel
and continue our journey home with fond memories of our trip to Hepburn Springs.
