Tamworth Country Music Festival

DAY 1 – Monday 16^th January ’23        COONABARABRAN                                                      (L,D)    

Welcome aboard for the exciting Tamworth 2023 Country Music Festival. Today we journey north into New South Wales to Jerilderie for morning tea, then on through to the Murrumbidgee Irrigation area of Narrandera as we make our way to West Wyalong Royal Hotel for our lunch. After lunch we continue through Forbes, Parkes and Peak Hill then onto Coonabarabran where we settle for our Overnight Stay at the Country Gardens Motel.

 

DAY 2 –Tuesday 17^th                                                                       Gilgandra - Tamworth                                                               (B)

This morning we travel though Gunnedah and on to TAMWORTH the Country Music Capital, today we enjoy an introductory tour of Tamworth seeing the highlights of the Music Festival.  We visit the Big Golden Guitar Tourist Centre with the 12 metre replica of the Golden Guitar and Gallery with life-like wax figures of Country Music greats, and see the Rock, Gem and Mineral display.  

You will have some free time to see many of the buskers who line the streets.  We settle into Motel 359 for the Next Five Nights.  (Includes Continental Breakfasts, each morning. Dinners are at your own cost.)  This is a Budget Style Motel in Tamworth in a great location to take advantage of all the day and nights entertainment.

 

DAY 3 – Wednesday 18^th                        Tamworth Country Music Festival                                                (B)

After breakfast at the motel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL where the hills around TAMWORTH echo with the sound of Country Music. The music, which is about the bush, mates, tales of hardship and the Australian spirit, covers a broad range of musical styles.  So, you will be guaranteed that your favourite style of ‘Country’ will be heard whether it is traditional Australian Bush Ballads, Gospel, Western Swing Dance Music, Rockabilly or Country Comedy. 

Day 4 – Thursday 19^th                       Tamworth Country Music Festival                                                   (B)

Today is a free day for you to enjoy.  Refer to your booklet for the day’s activities. As you stroll through the town look for commemorative plaques such as the Winners Walkway, Hands of Fame and more.  Most of the entertainment is staged indoors with air-conditioned comfort.

DAY 5 – Friday 20^th                                 Tamworth Country Music Festival                                                (B)

We enjoy a leisurely start today.  Be sure to consult your Tamworth Guide book to see what is on, and where. You may choose to visit the Tamworth Visitors Information Centre and see "The Walk A Country Mile” exhibition. Continue to explore the festival’s highlights including maybe a free concert at Centennial Park at night (check guide for details).

Day 6 – Saturday 21^st                        Tamworth – Golden Guitar Award Night                  (B)

After breakfast we board the Coach and make our way to see the Grand Parade (9am) in Peel Street. Maybe spot your favourite Country Music performers, Melinda Schneider, Troy Cassar-Daley, Beccy Cole, Lee & Tania Kernaghan, Sara Storer.  This afternoon is free to do as you please.  This evening we attend the Country Music Golden Guitar Awards at 7pm, recognizing excellence in Australian Country Music at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre. It features all the awards and performances by Australia’s leading artists, this evening is a real highlight of our tour. 

We hope that the calvacade is returning in 2023 but at the time of this brochure printing we are unsure.

 

DAY 7 – Sunday 22^nd               Tamworth - Dubbo – West Wyalong                             (B,L,D)

After breakfast it’s time to pack up and farewell Tamworth.  Then we make our way to Dunedoo passing through the small towns of Tambar Springs and Coolah.  Continue on to Dubbo for our lunch break at the Dubbo RSL before making through Parkes to West Wyalong, where we settle in for our Overnight Stay at the Colonial Motor Inn, West Wyalong.   

DAY 8 – Monday 23^rd                  Forbes – Home            (B)

A relaxing day as we travel homeward along the Newell Highway to Narrandera for morning tea.  Then it’s on to Tocumwal for lunch. After lunch we enjoy time to reflect on the great times together as we continue home, after a real feast of Country Music in Tamworth.
