Welcome aboard for a beautiful Autumn tour of Victoria. Today we travel south through Seymour for
morning tea stop and then on the Yarra Valley. We stop at the Yarra
Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery for a delicious lunch. There is a
large viewing window to watch talented European chocolatiers at work and a
showcase of over 300 different varieties of hand-crafted chocolates will tempt
you. Indulge! This afternoon we visit the Gulf Station in Yarra Glen.
Gulf Station tells an exciting story about the daily life on a pioneer
farm. Learn what life was like for a family living - and making a living - on
the land in nineteenth century Australia. We journey on to Healesville where
we spend the next two nights at Sanctuary House.
After a hearty breakfast set off to Belgrave to
board the Puffing Billy for a delightful train ride to Gembrook. Step back in
time at Australia’s oldest and best-preserved heritage steam railway, Puffing
Billy. With lush fern gullies brushing past the open side carriages and
Mountain Ash trees towering overhead, Puffing Billy Railway makes for a
wonderful opportunity to relax and breathe in
the fresh air whilst the train makes its way through the temperate rainforest. Discover
wonderful wildlife and spectacular landscapes made for adventure while sitting
on the carriage sill of Puffing Billy’s open-side carriages; a truly iconic
experience that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Then it’s on to Blue
Lotus Water Garden for lunch. Visitors can experience a magnificent
display of magical lotus flowers and many other exotic blooms and plants. Located
in the beautiful Yarra Valley. The tropical-themed water gardens span over
50,000 square metres with dozens of ponds and
two lakes, amazing fountains and wonderful walks where you will see thousands
of flowering plants. Featured attractions include: Giant Amazon Waterlilies,
Kakadu Lagoon Native Waterlily display, Tropical World complex, Claude Monet
Waterlily display, Monet's Lake Bridge Walk, Lotus Lake, Lotus Wetlands, Golden
Lotus display, Little Yarra River Trail, Flower Fairy Garden and much more.
It's then time to return to our accommodation for a rest before dinner.
Time for breakfast before embarking on the last day of our journey.
This morning we visit the Healesville Sanctuary, in the heart of the Yarra Valley, which is world-renowned as the best
place to see Australian wildlife in their natural habitat. Set in a beautiful
natural environment, the Sanctuary offers a place for people and animals to
reconnect with nature from creek to canopy, and plays a critical role in saving
some of the world's most endangered animals. Explore the 70 acre bushland haven
to experience close-up encounters with some of Australia's unique and endearing
wildlife, including koalas, kangaroos, wombats, emus, dingoes, birds of prey
and platypus. We enjoy lunch in Avenel before making our way home.
