Day 1  – Sunday 8th Sept ‘24  PERTH CITY SIGHTS  (D)

This morning we make our way to Tullamarine Airport for our flight to Perth. On arrival, we are met by our coach and begin with an introductory tour, including the Botanical Gardens and Kings Park, where we enjoy the panoramic views of the city across the Swan River.  We settle in for Our Overnight Stay at the lovely Hyatt Regency Perth.

 

Day 2  –  Monday 9th  NEW NORCIA – GERALDTON (BD)

This morning we make our way to New Norcia a charming town influenced by the Spanish Settlers.  We visit the Benedictine Museum, with its priceless treasures. Travel to Geraldton, where we settle in for our Two Nights at the Ocean Centre Hotel, Geraldton.

 

Day  3 -  Tuesday 10th  WILDFLOWER DAY (BD)

A full day devoted to discovering the Best of Western Australia’s Wildflowers. Western Australian Wildflowers appear in different areas each year we wait and choose the best areas for you. 

 

Day 4 –  Wednesday 11th  PINNACLES -  PERTH (BD)

We make our way to the amazing Pinnacles, a moonscape of coloured quartz with fantastic limestone pillars.  Be sure to bring your camera.  We then return to the Hyatt Regency, Perth for the Next Three Nights, with time to freshen up before dinner.  

 

Day 5 – Thursday 12th ROTTNEST ISLAND (BLD)

An exciting day awaits as we board the Rottnest Express, enjoy a Swan River Cruise, tour of Rottnest Island with lunch included.  This afternoon we return to Perth with time to freshen up before dinner.  

 

Day 6 – Friday 13th FREMANTLE – AFTERNOON AT LEISURE (BD)

This morning we explore Fremantle and then visit the Maritime Museum before returning to Perth for an afternoon at leisure.

 

Day 7 – Saturday 14th PERTH  - AUGUSTA (BD)

Leaving Perth this morning we make our way South to Australind where visit the Australind Wood Carving Museum.   Tour Bunbury stopping at Apex Lookout for a perfect view over the whole city.  Continue onto the charming town of Busselton where we enjoy a train ride on the famous Busselton Jetty.  We travel to the famous Margaret River wine area for our Overnight Stay at the Comfort Inn Grange on Farrelly,  Margaret River. 

 

Day 8 – Sunday 15th MARGARET RIVER  –    MANJIMUP (BD)

An exciting day ahead as we visit  Cape Leeuwin, the most South-Westerly point of Australia where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. Visit the Leeuwin Lighthouse surrounded by pristine beaches and roaring oceans. Travel to Pemberton, where we enjoy a short ride on the historic Tramway,  before continuing onto Manjimup, stopping at the famous Diamond Tree Tower. We settle in for our Overnight Stay at the Kingsley Motel.

 

Day 9 – Monday 16th SOUTH WEST COAST  -  ALBANY  (BD)

An interesting and unique day as we visit the Timber and Heritage Park before travelling the South Western Highway into the Walpole / Nornalup National Park, a magnificent virgin forest abundant with Karri, Jarrah and Giant Tinglewood Trees towering majestically over the wildflower countryside.  We visit the Valley of the Giants and experience the Tree Top Walk.   Continue along the South West Coast to the picturesque town of Denmark, then onto Albany.  We settle in for the Next Three Nights at the Ace Motor Inn, Albany. 

 

Day 10 – Tuesday 17th ALBANY - AFTERNOON AT LEISURE (BD)

This morning we tour Albany and visit the Whaling Station Museum, an industry of the past. This afternoon we visit the Mount Romance Sandlewood Factory for a tour.  Return to the motel with time to freshen up before dinner.    

 

Day 11 – Wednesday 18th WHALE WATCHING CRUISE (BD)

A real highlight today as we explore the coast off Albany.  Enjoy a whale Watching Cruise with full commentary while cruising around King George and Princess Royal Harbour.  The rest of the day is at leisure.  

 

Day 12 – Thursday 19th ALBANY – WAVE ROCK (BD)

Today we travel through the Stirling Ranges and visit Bluff Knoll.  Continue to Hyden, where we visit the incredible Wave Rock, one of the World's Greatest Natural Spectacles, shaped like a frozen wave standing 15 metres high and some 100 metres long.  Enjoy a tour of the area and learn about the Aboriginal legend of 'Mulka the Terrible'. We enjoy our Overnight Stay at Hyden Motel.

 

Day 13 – Friday 20th WAVE ROCK - ESPERENCE (BD)

After a hearty breakfast we make our way though to the Historic Gold and Copper Mining township of Ravensthorpe and visit the Yummylicious Candy Shack, home to the largest free-standing lollipop in the world. Then we continue along the South Coast Highway to Esperance, we tour the incredible Cape Le Grande National Park, with its spectacular coastal scenery and magnificent white sandy beaches. A chance to spot some wildflowers, as we travel past the coastal heath, eucalypt and banksia groves. We settle in for our Overnight Stay at the Comfort Bay of Isles, Esperance.

 

Day 14 – Saturday 21st ESPERENCE – KALGOORLIE (BD)

This morning we enjoy breath taking views from Rotary Lookout, see the famous Pink Lake, the giant Wind Turbines and the salt works. We visit the renowned Mermaid Fish Leather Tannery. We then travel to Norseman for lunch then continue onto the famous city of Kalgoorlie, known as the "City of Gold”. Enjoy wandering around the Hannans North Tourist Mine and afternoon tea. Then settle in for our Overnight Stay at the Best Western Hospitality, Kalgoorlie.     

 

Day 15 – Sunday 22nd KALGOORLIE -  NORSEMAN  (BD)

This morning we travel to Coolgardie, where we visit the Gold Museum then back to Kalgoorlie to see Paddy Hannons Statue and tour the Golden Mile reputed to be the richest square mile in the world. This afternoon we travel through the gold mining areas to Kambalda, a modern nickel-mining centre, and on to Norseman, where we settle in for our Overnight Stay at the Great Western Motel Norseman.    

 

Day 16 – Monday 23rd NORSEMAN – EUCLA (BD)

Today we commence our journey across the Nullarbor Plain.  We pass through small service towns including Balladonia, made famous when the U.S. Skylab disintegrated upon re-entry and showered the town with debris.

We stay Overnight at the Border Village, Eucla.

        

Day 17 – Tuesday 24th GREAT AUSTRALIAN BIGHT  -  CEDUNA  (BD)

Today we cross the border into South Australia.  See the magnificent views of the Great Australian Bight with its majestic limestone cliffs and coastal scenery.  Maybe spot a whale or two.  Continue across the vast treeless plain as we pass through the remote areas of the Nullarbor and the Yalala Aboriginal Reserve. We make our way to Ceduna, for our Overnight Stay at the Best Western Foreshore Hotel Motel.

 

Day 18 –  Wednesday 25th  CEDUNA   -  PORT AUGUSTA  (BD)

Today we pass through the tiny townships of Wirrulla, Poochera and on through the farming communities of Wundinna and Kyancutta to Iron Knob with its stark red hills, offset in spring by the colourful wildflowers. We visit the Australian Arid Inland Botanical Gardens, before we settle in for our Overnight Stay at Standpipe Golf Motor Inn, Port Augusta.     

           

Day 19  – Thursday 26th PORT AUGUSTA  -  MILDURA (BD)

Today we travel across the Southern Flinders Ranges through Horrocks Pass and Orroroo to Burra an historic Copper mining town.  Continue on through Morgan through the rich fruit growing area of Mildura.  We enjoy our Overnight Stay at the Mildura Inlander Resort, Mildura.

 

Day 20  – Friday 27th  MILDURA – HOME (BL)

The last day of our holiday is a relaxing one.  We make our way home along the Murray Valley Highway to Swan Hill for our lunch break.  Continue onto Echuca for afternoon tea, then home to our respective destinations - the conclusion to a most enjoyable and scenic Wonders of Western Australian Tour.
